SUPERWOMAN

Image
I hope and pray that my unborn daughter reads this one day Because I want her to be a superwoman defined by her own terms Not by societal stereotypes or norms I hope that she grows to be a lady of virtue, of substance and honour To love and cherish life with all its trappings in equal measure I hope she grows to love what is just and right And to loathe hate with all her entirety For it is a burden to a good soul I will teach her to learn that she needs no flowers to know that she is appreciated Because she is a real flower, a rose to blossom  That she does not have to go on fancy dates and candle-lit dinners to know her worth That she is a princess and her value can not be measured in diamonds or gold I will show her the meaning of true love by treating her mama right My superwoman I will teach her to adore the truth no matter the cost I will point her towards the paths of  my mother, her mother, their mothers and all women in our lives who make us Superwomen who defied the s...

BLOSSOMS

Image
As I looked at your face My heart was filled with grace My love for you like gold Its pricelessness untold As I looked at your smile Knocking me out for a while Your tender lips Not forgetting your curvaceous hips My love for you like fire Consuming my heart with desire The desire to have you by me So that together we may be You are always in my heart And nothing will tear us apart In you I see love and affection Beauty past description Do not ever leave my sight For you are my light I cherish you every more and again For like an angel you washed off my pain That is why I send a lovely dove To bring this message of long distance love.

HOPE

When you hit rock bottom When you get discouraged Disillusioned You may break a few bones Nasty thorns may prick you If you do not look out Animal attack But then it is when You hear the water trickle Listening to the murmuring grass The soils offer their greasy hand With no assurance Of a guaranteed exit Hope, faith, courage and perseverance May help you back up

WHEN THE RAIN COMES DOWN

Image
When the rains come down  To confront the rogue sun Moistening the dry earth To heal its cracked skin When the torrents descend Upon our mudded huts To paste a smile on our hearts To retain its humane decency When the showers fall Washing away the pain To erode and to cleanse The peasant and his worry When the floodgates of heaven open Hard upon a robber’s den To stifle their tete-a-tete Creating a Babylon in them When the blue curtain is drawn Roaring like the great of London On the high and mighty Draining their coffers to the bone When the hailstorms roar alive Down on my people To re-awaken the pasturelands To revive its diminishing glory When the hands of thunder clap On the white mountains Merging with the brown rivers To regain their silvery luster When the rainbow becomes our guest To bring with it equity Love and tranquility For all

THE LIGHT

Image
I have seen the glory of the Lord Shine upon my every path I have seen the power of the Lord Guide and control my ways I have seen the healing of the Lord Cure, restore and rebuild I have seen the lamb’s blood Cleanse my heart and soul I have seen the amnesty that is His love Forgive all those who confess I have seen the miracle of His hand  A flagship of constant deliverance I have seen the mercy of the Lord  I am still alive today For I have seen His undeserved favor Upon that all that I can see I have seen I have seen

SEYIANOI

Image
Seyianoi stood there for a couple of minutes looking at the lifeless fetus that would have been her baby. It would have been a beautiful boy with ears corked like his grandfather’s. She had already named him before she had seen him. He would have been called Musere like his father, well not actually his father now that he had denied being the father and forfeiting all responsibility.  The moment she broke the news to him that she was going to be a mother was still fresh and cold in her mind like the July dew that numbed her bare feet. He stood there under the Osokonoi tree where they shared countless moments of passion and denied the possibility of him being the father. Her mind played episodes of every single day that they had met and how it all led to this stalemate of raw emotion, regret and internal condemnation that she was currently feeling.  She hated Musere and yet she still felt some tiny fragment of love for him for teaching her a lesson that she would never forget f...
