IF PILLOWS COULD TALK

Image
If pillows could talk They'd narrate in detail the numerous times you murmured  Almost silently to yourself Your daily struggles, your pain and sorrow They would wake up as soon as you leave to discuss your issues in awe Lamenting at how you had to paddle downstream Without any luck in your river of life On the days you cried yourself to sleep they would wake up all wet  Soaked in the tired  tears of a solemn soul They would be in a dillema Between the rock that is being sympathetic to your woes And the hard place of blame towards you for staining their cases If pillows could read the minds of men They would tell the endless worries stored in their craniums  For generations to come They would tell their pillow grandchildren who would then pass down to their own offspring If pillows had the power to write  The stories that men narrate  They would be the biggest earners in show business They would pen down bestsellers  That would in turn be converted to ...

SELF-CONDEMNATION

Image
Do not drown me eternally In the bile of your inner guilt Before you know my pain Just before you turn the page Get to read every chapter in my open book For as  much as you blame yourself Thence you will discover  That am no saint either Behind this composed visage Is a tale never told A story concealed in the depth of my being My innocence is as much As the breadth of your guilt.

I WILL MARRY A VILLAGE GIRL

Image
When the time comes For me to get drowned  In the pool of holy matrimony I want it to be a village girl With her naïveté intact Her treasures untouched A girl that would greet me  With the fear of the gods in her voice Her skin ebony in pigment Unblemished  Not the Dalmatians that city girls have become Owing to lightening creams That conceals the beauty in stretch marks Under false pretence I will marry a village girl  Unexposed to the trickery and deceit Of emergency medication with every rising sun

SUPERWOMAN

Image
I hope and pray that my unborn daughter reads this one day Because I want her to be a superwoman defined by her own terms Not by societal stereotypes or norms I hope that she grows to be a lady of virtue, of substance and honour To love and cherish life with all its trappings in equal measure I hope she grows to love what is just and right And to loathe hate with all her entirety For it is a burden to a good soul I will teach her to learn that she needs no flowers to know that she is appreciated Because she is a real flower, a rose to blossom  That she does not have to go on fancy dates and candle-lit dinners to know her worth That she is a princess and her value can not be measured in diamonds or gold I will show her the meaning of true love by treating her mama right My superwoman I will teach her to adore the truth no matter the cost I will point her towards the paths of  my mother, her mother, their mothers and all women in our lives who make us Superwomen who defied the s...

BLOSSOMS

Image
As I looked at your face My heart was filled with grace My love for you like gold Its pricelessness untold As I looked at your smile Knocking me out for a while Your tender lips Not forgetting your curvaceous hips My love for you like fire Consuming my heart with desire The desire to have you by me So that together we may be You are always in my heart And nothing will tear us apart In you I see love and affection Beauty past description Do not ever leave my sight For you are my light I cherish you every more and again For like an angel you washed off my pain That is why I send a lovely dove To bring this message of long distance love.

HOPE

Image
When you hit rock bottom When you get discouraged Disillusioned You may break a few bones Nasty thorns may prick you If you do not look out Animal attack But then it is when You hear the water trickle Listening to the murmuring grass The soils offer their greasy hand With no assurance Of a guaranteed exit Hope, faith, courage and perseverance May help you back up

WHEN THE RAIN COMES DOWN

Image
When the rains come down  To confront the rogue sun Moistening the dry earth To heal its cracked skin When the torrents descend Upon our mudded huts To paste a smile on our hearts To retain its humane decency When the showers fall Washing away the pain To erode and to cleanse The peasant and his worry When the floodgates of heaven open Hard upon a robber’s den To stifle their tete-a-tete Creating a Babylon in them When the blue curtain is drawn Roaring like the great of London On the high and mighty Draining their coffers to the bone When the hailstorms roar alive Down on my people To re-awaken the pasturelands To revive its diminishing glory When the hands of thunder clap On the white mountains Merging with the brown rivers To regain their silvery luster When the rainbow becomes our guest To bring with it equity Love and tranquility For all
